Description
Dracaena is a decorative plant fully adaptable to life indoors, which makes it one of the most popular choices for interior decoration. With a little attention and basic knowledge of her needs, you can provide her with the conditions for proper growth and development, and the space she is in will be more beautiful and healthier than ever before. Dracaena originates from the African continent, from Madagascar, and its name comes from the Greek word drakaina – which means female dragon, so it is also known as Dragon Tree in some parts of the world.
Dracaena requires a lot of light, but direct sunlight does not contribute to it at all, because it can cause burns on the leaves and damage the plant. Lack of light, on the other hand, will result in an unhealthy colour of the leaves, i.e., the leaves will be paler than usual.
For dracaena, it can be conditionally said that it tolerates dry soil and irregular watering very well, while constant moisture in the soil is one of its biggest enemies and leads to the roots rotting. For this reason, it is necessary to avoid frequent and extensive watering of the leaves, as well as showering, because if water reaches the rosette from which the leaves develop and remains there, damage to the leaves occurs, and can even cause the plant to decay.
